Tommasi's Valpolicella Superiore Rafaèl is closely linked to the history of the family. Rafaèl is the first Tommasi vineyard ever, where the founder Giacomo planted the first vines and built the family home, in the municipality of San Pietro di Cariano, in the Classic Valpolicella. The vineyard is located on a hill close to Monte Masua and since its origins has been dedicated to Valpolicella Superiore, having all the perfect characteristics to produce this blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, in percentages that can vary according to the vintage but which in generally they are Corvina 60%, Rondinella 25% and Molinara 15%. The grapes are macerated and fermented with care not to raise the temperature of the mass too much, then the wine is aged for 15 months in 65 hl Slavonian oak barrels.
VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE RAFAÈL TOMMASI: TASTING
Tommasi's Valpolicella Superiore Rafaèl is clear ruby with garnet reflections. On the nose it immediately expresses elegance with floral notes of violet, lavender and geranium, enriched by the fragrant fruit of ripe cherry and wild strawberry jam; then mellow notes of black pepper, liquorice candy and cinnamon open up. The sip is decidedly fresh, with suffused flavor and hints of tannin. A wine of great versatility, it is delicious with "poastro in tecia", the delicious Venetian variation of stewed chicken.
