Why soy candles?
Each Munio Candle is handmade with care and love
using only soy wax, all-natural fragrances and essential oils. The wax is made of natural soy, GMO-free, and the wick is made of cotton, without lead.
What is soy wax?
Soy wax is a vegetable wax extracted from soy beans.
After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, peeled, ground and turned into loose flakes.
The oil extracted from the flakes is hydrogenated. The hydrogenization process converts some
of the fatty acids contained in the oil from unsaturated to saturated.
This process drastically alters the melting point of the oil, becoming solid at room temperature. The skins of leftover beans are commonly used as animal food.
The benefits of using soy wax:
Clean burn — Soy wax is not toxic. During combustion, it is much healthier
than candles that contain paraffin, which can emit carcinogens such as toluene and benzene.
Long Lasting — Soy wax burns slower, so a candle stays lit longer.
Renewable Resource — Soy wax is made from soy beans from a renewable agricultural resource. Biodegradable — Soy wax is naturally biodegradable and is easily removed with soap and water.
