Michele Chiarlo's Barbera Le Orme is born from the selection of bunches from various vineyards in the south of Asti, with particular reference to the vineyards of Podere La Court and Montemareto in Castelnuovo Calcea, La Serra in Montaldo Scarampi and Costa delle Monache in Agliano (the company has on a large platform of 110 hectares divided between Langhe, Monferrato and Gavi). The soils are generally light, of marine sedimentary origin, called "Astiane Sands" rich in silt and microelements. The harvest is manual and the fermentation takes place in steel tanks, with 10 days of maceration in contact with the skins and soft wetting of the cap with the "shower" system. After the malolactic fermentation has taken place, the wine refines in steel and in wood at least 16 months before release on the market.
BARBERA LE ORME MICHELE CHIARLO: TASTING
Michele Chiarlo's Barbera d'Asti Le Orme has the traditional ruby red with violet reflections of the first phase of life of wines from this vine. On the nose, the fruit reigns supreme, with intense notes of ripe cherries and blackcurrant syrup, enriched with aromatic herbs and black pepper. In the mouth it is well balanced with beautiful freshness, soft tannin and fruity flavour. How good with cotechino and lentils! But also slightly refreshed with pizza.
Since 1956, Michele Chiarlo has vinified the essence of Piedmont, enhancing the incredible one of the most loved wine territory in the world. Michele, who comes from a family of small wine producers, runs the winery together with his sons Alberto and Stefano and controls over 100 hectares of large vineyards in Piedmont, one of the most interesting Italian regions from a wine point of view. In particular, Langhe and Monferrato recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These wines, exported to 56 countries, have had the most important awards of the Italian and international press.
Estimated between Thursday 8 May and Wednesday 14 May.
