Verdicchio di Matelica Vertis of Borgo Paglianetto derives its name from the Latin “vertere” (“to turn”) and means “the highest point”. Vertis is the maximum expression of the grape variety it belongs to: obtained from grapes coming from the longest-lived vineyards, approximately twenty years old and with southern exposure, it is a wine with two years of evolution and characteristics that allow the Verdicchio di Verdicchio to be unmistakably recognised. Matelica. The harvest takes place in October; the grapes are processed in steel vats and the wine ages in steel for 8 months before bottling, followed by a further 4 months before marketing.
VERDICHIO DI MATELICA VERTIS BORGO PAGLIANETTO: TASTING
The Verdicchio di Matelica Vertis of Borgo Paglianetto is an intense straw yellow that turns golden. On the nose it is broad and elegant, floral with broom, fruity in shades of jujube and citrus, fresh in hints of anise and ginger, sweet in touches of honey, severe in hints of flint. The mouth is salty, soft and fresh; it stretches on smoke and almond. It's nice to create a "tailor-made" dish for him, for example a risotto with buzzonaglia, lemon zest and wild fennel.
